SPRINKLES.
First Cupcake Chain Store. It has finally arrived to NYC awhile back, but I never had the chance to go check the place out. And I finally did. The bakery was small, but cozy. There are seats, but it is a very small place. I loved the decor and the service. I tried the Red Velvet, Black and White, Banana, and Chocolate. The Black and White was good, but very sweet, a little too sweet for me. The Red Velvet was scrumptious!!! I didn’t get to try the banana and chocolate one, but heard both were delightful treats.

Have you ever imagined how funfetti cupcakes would taste like in other forms? Well let me tell you… actually show you with the picture above. Looks good right? I haven’t posted anything in a long time due to having an extremely busy semester (especially towards the last 2 months). I actually made these waffles during finals week. The most dreaded, chaotic, stressful week that most college students would love to live without… yeah that includes me. HAH. I had to wake up early to make the waffles, then go to work, and then study for a final the next day. But you know what I deserved it and so do all college students. We need a moment to just relax amidst the craziness of college finals. So I tried this recipe I found on this blog.
Chewy, Moist Brownies. Making them is as easy as 1, 2, 3 and the end result is amazing. When I first attempted baking years ago, I started off with box mixes. And soon enough, I began to drift away from this and made everything from scratch. I have found many great recipes for brownies, but the box mix ones always come out the way I like it especially on those lazy days and those days you just need chocolately goodness. And who doesn’t love chewy brownies? I certainly LOVE them and whenever I am having that craving for chewy soft brownies, this is the recipe I always turn to.
The Easiest and Best Way to Bake Brownies:
Use a box mix.
Add 1 egg and oil.
Mix well only for 5o times.
Do not overbake!
ROUND TWO: Strawberry and Chocolate Scones
Same basic recipe as the Dreamy Cream Scones, however this time I replaced the crasins and white chocolate chips with frozen strawberries and semisweet chocolate chips. The result was still good. It was less sweet, so better for your health in the long run. I am sad to say that craisins and white chocolate chip scones wins HANDS DOWN! Not only do I think this, but also my suitemates. That is why you bake for your roomie and suitemates because they will glady try your wild experiments. No one turns down free food especially food that is right in front of your face. I am just kidding about this. It is great to bake and share because honestly you can’t eat all those scones yourself. And sharing is caring!
Dinner of a College Student: Stir Fry Bok Choy (with lots of garlic and shallots) along with Pork Dumplings with Sriracha sauce
What is a great remedy for a hectic and stressful day? SCONES.
You can’t get enough of ‘em. I had extra heavy cream in my fridge and I didn’t want to just throw it all out, so guess what happens next.
Heavy cream + some butter + stress + sweet tooth = BAKING TIME!!!
I found this recipe on Smitten Kitchen and the rest was pretty predictable. I added white chocolate for the extra sweetness along with craisins. It was an amazing combination. Not original, but doesn’t matter. I couldn’t get enough of the moistness and softness, it was just oh-so-good as if I was in a dream where I can eat forever and not worry about the consequences… if only that was real.
Winter hasn’t arrived yet… despite this when is it never a good time to have a ginger cookie. I missed the Union Square Holiday Market of 2011, along with that I missed my favorite molasses cookie sold by Breezy Orchards. These cookies aren’t the same, but it is still a satisfying treat. I got the recipe from AllRecipes.com. In short, the recipe is a keeper and I am definitely making these cookies again. However the next time, I will end up eating ginger cookies with crinkles, lots of crinkles.
